OYO NURTW FACTIONAL LEADERS IN POLICE NET

NEWLY posted Police Commissioner for Oyo State, Mr. Moses Onireti yesterday said the two factional leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers [NURTW] in the state, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola Tokyo and Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi are still on Police wanted lists.
The Police Commissioner who stated this during his maiden press briefing held at the Oyo state Police headquarters in Eleyele area of Ibadan that the two NURTW factional leaders were declared wanted over an alleged offence and as such must make themselves available to the Police ''if they have no skeleton in their cupboard''.
''They are still being wanted by the Police ,they are still declared wanted .If they feel they have no skeleton ,if the have not committed any ofence.After all, you are still innocent until you are found guilty or otherwise..They should come and report to the Oyo state Police Command and they will be treated well,''he said.
Mr Onireti emphasized that there will be no room for criminals in and across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state adding that those with criminal intention should completely stay away from the state as men of the Command are committed into sustaining the reigning peace and stability in the state.
''I am prepared to tackle the security situation in Oyo state and with God on my side, we shall succeed in making Oyo a crime free state. Police Officers in the state are to be mobilized in making the state crime free,''Mr Onireti added.
The Police Commissioner also solicited total support and co operations of the people of Oyo state especially in providing the police with reliable information towards ensuring reduction in crime rate in the state.
Mr. Onireti pointed out that information provided to the police in ensuring crime reduction in Oyo State would treated in confidence by the command ,saying,''the command is ready to cooperate with members of the public in the state in the area of policing Oyo state to ensure crime free Oyo state''.
While urging journalists in the state to extend their full support and cooperation to the Oyo state Police Command ,the Police Commissioner promised to operate an open door administration in the state throughout his tenure as the state Police Commissioner.
It will be recalled that the two NURTW factional leaders were declared by the immediate past Police Commissioner in the state,Alhaji Baba Adisa Bolanta in connection with the NURTW bloody clash at Iwo road motor park during which over 20 people were killed.
