CNPP blames bombingS on indifference posture of governments

Posted: Thursday, July 7, 2011

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) on Tuesday identified the indifference of government at all levels as the major cause of suicide bombings in Nigeria. The CNPP was reacting to the seeming state of insecurity, particularly last Sunday's bomb blast in Maiduguri which killed at least six people and left 13 injured.
In a telephone interview, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, National Chairman of the CNPP, said that the country was dealing with organised violence, adding that those involved were politically motivated.
"We are dealing with organised and politically motivated violence, be it religious or ethnic. And the primary reason for this is indifference of government at every level,'' he said.
Musa, however, called on those in power to run a credible government that would concentrate on welfare, security of lives and properties of the people "as this is the purpose of government.''
He also called on the government to prosecute and punish anybody involved in such organised violence if found guilty to serve as a deterrent to others.
"People who have access to stolen money are those who sponsor organised violence in Nigeria and this is because of the high level of poverty and  corruption which has ruined the country,'' he said.
Musa is also the National Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Also, Mr Dayo Oyewumi, National Chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), said insecurity in Nigeria was due to the poor management of the country.
He stressed that this was also the reason dissatisfied and unemployed youths are engaged negatively.
