Yakowa receives certificate of return

KADUNA State Governor and governor-elect Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa yesterday received his certificate of return with a call on all to do away with party differences and work for the progress and growth of the state to meet the aspirations of those who elected them.
Making a remark after receiving the certificate at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Kaduna office, Yakowa said they should all dedicate their certificates to the victims of the post-election crisis in the state. Their death, he promised, would not be in vain as they have vowed to serve the people optimally.
Despite their being elected on the platforms of different political parties, the electorate elected them to serve them, and that should be the focus of every elected person, Yakowa asserted. He promised to work to meet the expectations of the people of the state.Earlier in his speech, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Alhaji Aliyu Haliru Tambuwal said the commission is presenting the certificates of return in accordance with section 75 of the Electoral Act. He congratulated the members-elect asserting that the commission conducted the fairest and free elections in the nation.
Yakowa's certificate was presented to him at exactly 11:57pm by the National Commissioner in charge of Kaduna, Niger and Federal FCT Dr Chris Iyemoga. The same with the deputy governor-elect Yero who got his certificate five minutes before his boss.
Others were the three senators elect from the state; Alhaji Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, General Mohammed Sani Saleh (rtd), Mrs Esther Nenadi Usman. The House of Representatives members are Usman Bawa, Abbas Tajudeen, Abubakar Muhammed Abubakar, Yusuf Bala, Isa Ashiru, Lawal Ibrahim, Adams Jagaba, Yakubu Barde, Shehu Garba. Others are Muhammed Shamsudeen, Garba Muhammed, Rufai Ahmed Chanchangi, Gideon Lukas, Simeon Yakubu and Godfrey Gaiya. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had eight members-elect and the Congress for Progressive Change also the same number.
The state House of Assembly members elect who received their certificates of return are Aliyu Balarabe Jigo, Sunday Bitrus, Joshua Barde, Maikudi Tanko, Muazu Gangara, Shehu Tahir, Haliru Sambo, Muntaka Bashir Zuntu, Gambo Aliyu,Idris Aliyu, Ibrahim Zailani, Labari Tella, the only two female members; Eather Abu and Esther Abba, David Umaru, Peter Adamu, Muhammed Ali, Haruna Inuwa. Others are Yunusa Bala, Usman Philemon, Nasir Abdulahi, Shuaibu Tokurah, Mato Dogara, Umoru Yunusa, Danlami Dan'ina, Ahmed Hassan Juma'are, Aminu Abdulahi, Muhammed Shuiabu, Shehu Adamu, Yunusa Turawa and kantiok Irmiya.
The remaining ones are Yakubu Yusuf, Mustapha Bawa, Yohana Jatau, Yakubu Bitiyong, Haliru Sambo and Abdulahi Khalid. Out of the 34 members of the State House of Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the majority of 21 while the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has 13. |
