Incorporated on 23rd October 1964, as the Northern Nigeria Newspapers by the then Northern Regional Government of Nigeria, New Nigerian Newspapers has grown to become one of Nigeria's biggest and oldest media houses.

At inception the company took over the publication of one of the oldest vernacular newspapers in Africa, Gaskiya Ta Fi Kwabo, published since 1939 by the Gaskiya corporation Zaria. 

 

The New Nigerian Daily made its debut on January 1,1966.Eight years later; In 1974, a southern Nigerian plant was commissioned in Lagos, Nigeria to boost nationwide coverage, thus making the New Nigerian Newspapers and Gaskiya Ta Fi Kwabo the only Newspapers that were Published simultaneously in Lagos and Kaduna.

 

Barely ten years after its formation, New Nigerian Newspapers was circulating over 200,000 copies nationwide.

The company was established with the primary aim of providing quality publications as a means of enlightenment and education for the growing literate Nigerian populace, informing the take-over of its ownership and management from the Northern States Interim Common Service Agency by the Federal Government of Nigeria in August 1975. 

 

Today, New Nigerian Newspapers run four publications:

New Nigerian - a daily publication
New Nigerian Weekly

New Nigerian on Sunday
Gaskiya Ta Fi Kwabo - published twice a week in Hausa.


New Nigerian Newspapers also operates a first-rate printing outfit, providing a "One-stop" for all commercial and stationery needs. The company also diversified to Property development in 1977 with the construction of Imam House and a new Skyscraper known as "Nagwamatse House" Ahmadu Bello way, Kaduna, which is open for lease.

With the installation of a new democratic Government in Nigeria, New Nigerian Newspapers, under a new management team headed by Mr. Ndanusa Alao. is being re-positioned to tackle the challenges inherent in a democratic setting-ensuring the sustenance of good Governance, accountability and effective dissemination of information. 

 

We are also intent on projecting Nigeria to the world by annexing the unlimited opportunity offered by the twin forces of Information age and Globalization, touching all facets of our daily life-News, Information, Arts and Culture, Business and economy, Politics, Sports and more. Our watch-word being the words of our founding father:
