Ploy to poison detained husband lands wife in police net

Efforts by a Lagos housewife to poison her detained husband by the Police has landed her in a Police cell.
The housewife identified as Kehinde Okunade, 26 was alleged to have attempted to poison her husband one Jelili who was detained at Idimu Police Station for alleged armed robbery.
According to Police source, Kehinde allegedly brought a loaf of bread laced with a substance suspected to be poison and gave it to the Police to pass it to her husband who was in the cell.
Upon hearing that her husband was in Police net for armed robbery, Kehinde was said to have quickly muted an idea to poison her husband in order to cover up the shame.
The attempt was said to have failed when the Policemen at the counter asked her to eat part of the bread, which she declined.
She was said to have later confessed to have laced the bread with poisonous substance when she was about to be forced to eat out of it.
The Police immediately arrested Kehinde and charge her to Ejigbo Magistrate Court for attempting to poison her husband to cover up the robbery case.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M.B Folami granted her bail in the sum of N100, 000.00 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned till April 2011 while the court ordered that she should be remanded in prison custody in Kirikiri maximum prison. |
