NEW Nigerian
Newspapers Limited Thursday bagged an Award of Excellence for
Objective Reportage of Events which have contributed to the progress
and development of the country.
Presenting the
award to the 42-year media organization in Kaduna at a ceremony
organized by the African Youths for Conflict Resolution (AYCR), the
National President of the association, Alhaji Suleiman Shuaibu
Kamarawa said New Nigerian Newspapers was given the award in
recognition of its excellent contributions in the areas of peace,
unity and development in Nigeria and Africa in general.
The national
president charged the media organization and other recipients to
redouble their efforts in preaching the gospel of peace and unity in
the country and Africa in general.
According to him,
the NNN and other individuals who received the award have
contributed immensely towards the development of the country and
Africa in general.
Receiving the
award on behave of the NNN, the Literary Editor of the New Nigerian
Newspapers, Malam Sumaila Umaisha thanked the AYCR for giving such
recognition to the media organization.
According to him,
the New Nigerian Newspapers Limited would redouble its efforts
towards enhancing peaceful co-existence among Nigerians through its
objective dissemination of information.
Other media
organizations which received the same award include Daily Trust,
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Nigeria Television
Authority (NTA), Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) and Nagarta
Radio.
Among other
individuals who also received similar award include: The immediate
past governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi,
former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima, late
Sheik Abubakar Gumi, late Sheik Muhammed Nasiru and Rev. Fr. Matthew
Hassan Kukah.
Others include,
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Tambari Yabo Mohammed,
late General Hassan Usman Kastina, Dr. Abubakar Ladan, Alhaji Nuha
Intelligent and Alhaji Uba Sani.
Speaking to
newsmen shortly after the award presentation, the state Commissioner
of Police, Alhaji Tambari Yabo Mohammed commended the association
for giving them such recognition.
According to him,
the award presented to him would serve as an encouragement to him in
his efforts to crime.
Alhaji Tambari further charged youths in the
state to continue to co-operate with the police by exposing the
activities of criminals and their hideouts which would go along way
in ensuring a peaceful environment.
