restructuring to gulp N2bn
From
OGBOO CHINEDU, Kaduna
THE ongoing restructuring of Kaduna State Government House will
gulped over two billion Naira. This was disclosed by the Special
Adviser (Political) to the Governor of Kaduna State Alhaji Husaini
Jalo.
He added that the contract for the construction of the structure has
been awarded to the construction giant, Julius Berger Plc, and
expected to be completed at the end of the first term of the present
administration.
He refuted the allegation by some politicians that the Arc. Namdi
Sambo administration is planning to relocate the state Government
House from its present base to the Kaduna new city.
According to him, “there is no iota of truth about state government
moving to the new city. The Kaduna State Government House
permanently is based at Kashim Ibrahim house. So anybody that tells
you that the state government is moving to the new city, does not
even know how government exists.”
Reacting to the statement by some people that the government should
have embarked on such expensive project that has no direct impact on
the people of the state, Alhaji Hussaini stated that the present
Kaduna State government house has been there since Lord Lugard. And
that the state of Kaduna demands a befitting state government house.
“You know that Kaduna state has come of age to have a befitting
state government house. We visit other states, we see the kind of
structure they have as government house. Meanwhile Kaduna state used
to be and is still the seat of the Nineteen Northern states and thus
needs a befitting structure that is comparable to its status in the
region and federation, Kaduna state till today houses the nineteen
northern governors forum meeting.”
The special adviser further said that a good environment and
condition of work enhances good planning and execution of projects
and that “we have to move forward our society, we have to move
forward our state. It does not mean that because we are developing
people we would not develop the environment conducive for us to
perform the duties for which we are elected and assigned to do. I
think there should be a conducive environment so that the dividend
of democracy can be able to flow to the people without any
interruption.
