Ladoja, Akala
rift over ... as governor pays sallah homage
From BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan
CLEAR indications emerged that the political crisis between the
immediate past governor of Oyo state Senator Rashidi Ladoja and
Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala ended Tuesday as the governor stormed
the Bodija private residence of Senator Ladoja to pay him the Sallah
homage .
Speaking with journalists, Senator Ladoja declared that he “is now
the rallying point for the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in Oyo
state.”
It was jubilation galore as governor Akala arrived the private
residence of Senator Ladoja where hundreds of Senator Ladoja
supporters shouts rented the air with songs of praises on seeing the
governor heading towards the former governor’s sitting room to pay
him Sallah homage.
Senator Ladoja while receiving Governor Akala in his house declared
that there was nothing like crisis between the two of them any
longer, adding that they were all in politics to build a strong Oyo
state.
He said the coming into his house of Governor Akala was a clear
signal that there was no more crisis between him and the governor,
saying “in Oyo state PDP we are one, Bayo is my junior brother and
my friend, we have been together for long’’.
Speaking, Governor Akala stated that his visit was to pay sallah
homage to the former governor as a mark of due respect for him as a
leader and a prominent figure in Oyo state and beyond.
“I am here to pay Sallah homage to my boss and my brother. We are
together and we shall continue to be together. He was my boss in
office and he shall continue to be my Oga,that is the truth, so I am
here to greet him for the end of the 30 days Ramadan fast’’, he
added.
In a chat with journalists earlier in the day, Senator Ladoja
declared that he was no longer interested in contesting Oyo state
governorship election as he has become the rallying point for all
the PDP members in the state.
Senator Ladoja stressed that the PDP reconciliation moves in Oyo
state has yielded positive result going by the situation in the
state’s political arena in the last few days.
He stressed that going by the spirit of reconciliation in the state
PDP, there will be no loser and no winner.
“Oyo state is finding true reconciliation in recent times. So
anybody that wants to come is free to come as I am now the rallying
point for the party in the state. With give and take spirit, we will
come to a permanent resolution of the problem at hand in the party,”
Senator Ladoja noted.
Speaking further, Senator Akala pointed out that there was the need
for the PDP to do more about reconciling the party with the people
of the South-West going by the pattern of voting in most of the
South-West states in the 2007 general elections.
The former governor emphasized that it was a fact that throughout
the 2007 general elections, there was no clear cut winning for PDP
in any of the South-West states.
