ONSG aide advises on constructive
criticism
From
ODEYEMI SAMUEL, Akure
The Special Adviser to the Ondo state government on infrastructure,
Engr James Olusoga Tuesday told opposition to be constructive in
their criticism.
Speaking with journalists in Akure, Engr Olusoga said, opposition
is not meant to be negative but rather constructive and positive in
nature.
The Special Adviser who was reacting to comments by the Labour
Party [LP] in the state which accused the Dr Olusegun Agagu led
administration of wastage spending towards the determination of the
Court of Appeal on Justice Garba Nabaruma Judgment on the April 14,
2007 governorship election.
“Let them go and watch what is going on in the US , who tell them
that they will be in government after the Appeal court judgment ?’’
Olusoga queried.
He charged the opposition to be rather specific on the kind of white
elephant projects embarked upon by the present administration even
at local levels.
Money, he said, can not be tied in the bank when several projects
are begging for attention, saying the dualisation of some roads in
Akure metropolis and the establishment of a University of Technology
among others is for the benefit of all.
According to him, the government has not exceeded the provisions in
the 2008 budget, adding should government now seat and fold its arms
pending on the outcome of the Appeal Court judgment.
He said, it is the same set of people that would go round later to
accuse government of not executing the 2008 budget before the year
runs out.
Engr Olusoga how ever assured the people that the antics of Labour
Party would not be allowed to distract its attention from carrying
out people oriented programmes.
The Special Adviser later commended the chairmen in all the 18 local
governments for complying with the state government’s advice that
they should use their excess crude oil fund on road construction
even when they have the autonomy to do otherwise.
He also callled on the people to imbibe maintenance culture by
clearing the drainages along major roads to avert over flooding when
it rained.
