Shekarau’s
giant strides in sports commended

Governor
Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State has been commended for keeping his
promises by sponsoring the Shekarau Babes FC to Norway for the
Norway Cup competition as well as a sporting tour to Dubai which
have greatly impacted on the team and have boost the morale of the
players.
Team Manager of
the club Magaji Ibrahin Dambatta made the commendation at the
weekend in Kaduna while speaking to New Nigerian Sports.
"We cannot help
it but express our appreciation to Governor Shekarau for making
promises ans fulfilling same by sponsoring the young Shekarau Babes
to the Norway Cup and the Dubai Tour.," he said.
Speaking on the
importance of participating in the Norway Cup, he said that it was
an opportunity to expose the players as no fewer than 48 countries
participated in the competition.
"Also we had 68
teams that participated and based on the performance of the Shekarau
Babes, two of our players Shareef Yusuf and Abubakar Saleh Hassan
have been given offers in Norway and would be going there as soon as
they attain 18 years.
"While there, the
team also received a donation of four sets of jerseys and same
number of training jerseys from the Homlia team in Norway, which are
all as a result of his excellency's foresight in sponsoring the
team," he said.
Highlighting the
benefits of the Dubai Tour, he said the team also gained a lot of
exposure and two of their players Aminu Abubakar and Mustapha Usman
have been given full scholarship by Al Ahly Sports Academy Dubai,
which he described as a very positive development.
Speaking further,
the Team Manager who is also the Secretary of Kano State Youths
Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) said that others that have also
given the team unflinching support are the Director of Sports Kano
State Ibrahim Abba who is also the founder of the Shekarau Babes and
the Secretary to the state Government Alh. Abdul kareem Hassan.
