Yobe SSG urges oppositions to withdraw case against gov

THE Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Engineer Baba Goni Machina, has called on members of opposition parties in the state to withdraw their court case against the state Governor and come together to form a government of reconciliation and unity.
Engineer Baba Goni Machina, who was speaking when the leadership of the correspondent chapel of the NUJ in the state paid him a visit in his office, shortly after the court case of Jos said forming such a unity government is the only way to move the state forward.
The Secretary to the State Government, Baba Machina noted with concern that court litigations against Governor Mammam Bello Ali, were distracting the Administration from concentrating its energy on tackling the mounting problems of socio-economic problems facing Yobe people.
He described those who instituted various court cases against Governor Mammam Ali as brothers to forgive and forget their differences to come together and work as one family.
Engineer Baba Goni reiterated the state government’s commitment to provide a conducive working atmosphere for practicing journalists working in the state to enable contribute towards development of the area.
He appealed to the journalists to always avail themselves of the open door policy of the Administration towards discrimination of information to get the facts correct and avoid sensation.
Leadership of the correspondents’ chapel led by Malam Abubakar Abdulkarim of the FRCN had earlier complained lack of incentives and closed door attitude of most government functionaries especially commissioners when journalists go to them for their commitments on issues related to activities of the government.
The Secretary to the State Government, Baba Goni has promised to look into the complains and rectify them incluyment of outstanding debts the government was owing media organization since the last dispensation of the Bukar Abba Ibrahim Administration.
