KADA Fallout: KDSG probes fraud allegations

|

Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna state has set up two committees to investigate allegations of fraud that trailed the National Sports Festival, tagged KADA Games 2009.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some aggrieved contractors, athletes and officials have petitioned the governor over non-payment of their contract sum and allowances.
While some of the complainants alleged deliberate refusal by government agents to settle feeding grants, others alleged outright denial of their entitlements.
Confirming the development, Alhaji Saidu Adamu, the state Information Commissioner, told NAN yesterday in Kaduna that the government has constituted two probe panels with a view to resolving the contending issues.
“Yes, the police had been invited to investigate the petitions on non-payment or delay of paying contractors’ feeding grants and athletes allowances following the setting up of committees to probe the allegations.
“The governor and the LOC would decide the fate of the assorted vehicles used in the fiesta.
“KADA is still on until when we finally wind up by appreciating our athletes and all those who contributed to its success,” Adamu said.
The commissioner expressed optimism that the state has satisfied FIFA requirements and that the country would successfully host the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be staged this October in Nigeria.
