From UBA IBRAHIM, Port Harcourt

As at 2pm yesterday, Team Rivers who are hosts have surpassed 100 over all medals mark at the ongoing 17th National Sports Festival. Rivers currently maintains lead with a total of 101 medals comprising 57 gold, 19 silver, and 25 bronze.
The paradox, however, is that four northern teams of Gombe, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states sitting at the bottom of the log are mere participants with no medal yet recorded for their states. Among the last ten on the medals table, Ebonyi, Yobe, Adamawa, Borno, Enugu and Taraba 3, 2, 1, 3, 1 and 1 medals recorded for their unimpressive showings but without a single gold.
As at the same time, a total of 614 medals have been won with 178 gold, 174 silver and 262 bronze.
Delta is still trailing as second with 95 medals, comprising 29 gold, 31 silver and 35 bronze while Edo is third 13 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze and Bayelsa third with 11 gold, 4 silver and 15 bronze. Akwa lbom has 25 over all with 10 gold, 2 silver and 13 bronze, Ondo 9 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze, Ogun 7 gold, 11 silver and 18 bronze, Plateau has 6 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze while Benue is ninth with 6 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze and FCT tenth with 4 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze.
