Excel in sports, get employed —IGP tells youths

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro says the Nigerian Police will engage youths especially those who excel in sports, in order to restore the glory of the force in sports.
He was speaking through his representative at the final of the Prince Austin Obaedo Unity Cup Football competition held in Damaturu the Yobe State capital recently.
The police chieftain said through sports, youths can be engaged in meaningful endeavours that will keep them away from anti-social behaviours and earn them an income.
While commending the donor of the trophy who is also the Police Commissioner at the Police Headquaters, Prince Austin Obaedo, the I-G equally called on police friends to come forward and sponsor police games both at zonal and national levels.
In his remarks the chairman of the organising committee of the tournament, Alhaji Oladipo Sanusi said 16 teams participated in the competition which saw Police Stars of Damaturu emerging as champions.
They defeated Ajari United Football Club of Damaturu throuh penalty shoot out having drawn 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
NYSC team clinched the third position. Prizes were given to deserving teams and players.
