Politicians boost pineapple trade in Kebbi

06 - 01 - 2007

Fruit sellers in Kebbi State are now concentrating on the sale of pineapple, following the "politicisation" of the fruit in the state.

Pineapple, a popular fruit, is now the symbol of one of the political parties in the country.

The sellers are making brisk business as politicians have turned the fruit to a ‘gift item’ for distribution to their loved ones and party supporters.

The News Agency of Nigeria observed that many supporters and members of the DPP in the state exchanged pineapples as their Christmas, Sallah and New Year gifts.

When contacted for comment on the issue, the Special Assistant to DPP governorship candidate in the state, Alhaji S.A. Kalgo said it was a lovely and welcome development
