Yuguda suspends Bogoro LG chairman,
district head, 6 chiefs
Posted: Saturday, April 9, 2011
Gov. Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has approved the suspension of the Chairman of Bogoro Local Government, Mr. Markus Musa, from office.
A statement from the office of the governor and signed by Alhaji Hashim Yakubu, the Permanent Secretary, Political Affairs, said in Bauchi that the governor also suspended the District Head of Bogoro, Alhaji Husseina Haruna.
The Village Head of Bogoro, Alhaji Nuhu Tafida, as well as five ward heads in the town were also suspended.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that although no reason was given for the action, it might not be unconnected with Wednesday's incident during which Yuguda and his entourage who visited Bogoro were pelted with stones by some indigenes.
Some vehicles in the governor's motorcade were also vandalised by the rioters though no life was lost.
The statement directed the vice-chairman of the local council to assume leadership in an acting capacity.
