FIFA battle Marseille over Taiwo

French Ligue 1 club, Olympique Marseille look likely to draw the wrath of football governing body, FIFA over Taye Ismaila Taiwo's inclusion in Coach Samson Siasia's squad for next month's Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Siasia has already placed The Tornado in a provisional 27-man list for the Games, with expectations favouring the former Lobi Stars of Makurdi left-wing-back for a place in the final squad to the Orient.
Marseille have raised alarm that Taiwo could be missing for four French Championnat games and a fixture in the third round of UEFA Champions League in the month of August.
However, Marseille's reluctance to release Taiwo runs in contrast with FIFA, which has already reminded clubs that they must release players aged Under-23 who are called up for next month's Olympics.
"The release of players younger than 23 has always been mandatory for all clubs. For Beijing 2008 the same principle shall apply," a FIFA statement pointed out.
